Sunflowers

Sunflowers have an intricate pattern to their blooms. They grow from seed to be tall single thick stemmed plants with very large yellow blooms. The young plants have the ability to follow the sun during the day - that is the head will move from east to west - then return to face east during the night.
The seeds develop in a spiral pattern that develops from the outside to the outside. The seeds provide food for wildlife and can also be processed for their oil which is used in cooking, cosmetics, and feed. Sunbutter, a substitute for peanut butter, can also be made from sunflower seeds.
Not only beautiful and somewhat breathtaking, sunflowers provide food for humans and animals alike.
